Konstantin Mikhel spoke about the tax incentives in HTP at the StrategEast State & IT International Forum in Kiev

The StrategEast State & IT international forum was held on November 4-5, 2019 in Kiev (Ukraine). The main objectives of the event were:

  • To identify common opportunities and challenges of the IT sector in the Eurasian and Baltic countries
  • To suggest practical solutions to the existing challenges in the fields of legislation, taxation and IPR
  • To attract international IT companies and venture funds to the potential of the IT industry in the region
  • To share best practices, experience and knowledge regarding the relations between the government and the IT sector

The StrategEast State & IT Forum brought together senior representatives of the USA and the EU governments and state agencies, senior representatives of the governments of the Eurasian and Baltic states, global IT companies, VC funds, investment banks, heads of IT associations and leaders of the IT sector from the region.

The forum’s key speaker was Lad Das Prasanna, author of the World Bank’s data economy strategy. The Forum was also attended by Arkady Dobkin, President of EPAM Systems (USA), Dmitry Sholomko, Head of Google Ukraine (Ukraine), Vladislav Krikliy, Minister of Infrastructure (Ukraine), Alexey Vyskub, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation (Ukraine), Dimitar Bogov, Regional Leader EBRD Economist, Juan Navas-Sabater, Head of ICT Programs in the Europe and Central Asia Region, World Bank Group (USA), Daniel Witt, President of the International Center for Taxes and Investments (USA), etc.

The forum discussed issues such as:

  • Tax regulation of the IT sector
  • Intellectual property protection
  • Legislative initiatives in the IT
  • Is the new economy a remedy for corruption?
  • IT industry in Ukraine
  • Central Asia as a digital HUB of Eurasia

VMP Managing Partner Konstantin Mikhel took part in the discussion “Tax Regulation of the IT Industry” and spoke on the topic “Tax incentives for HTP residents of Belarus”.

The organizer is the strategic center StrategEast, the purpose of which is to strengthen the values ​​of the rule of law and protect intellectual property in the countries of Eurasia and the Baltic by moving from an economy based on natural resources to an economy based on knowledge.
